Discovering the yellow brick road

1 note

Taken from my Tuesday, August 25, 2009 Facebook note

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
- Matthew 22:36-40 (New International Version)

Love your God with all your heart, soul, and mind because it is only in doing so that we’ll learn how to truly love one another.

It is in loving Him, do we realize the utmost love the Lord IS offering. It is humbling, it is moving to be loved by Him, the King of all Kings. The Lord IS the source of true love.

And it is not only until we love our Lord, can we be one with His desires and His will. For to love, is to be selfless; and we put the other person’s interests first..in this case, we put Jesus’ interests first. If the Lord desires us to love others as He commanded, the love will flow more naturally or easier and far greater since our desires are one with His. We will love, like He loves. It is then in loving Jesus can we find it easier to follow Him love others joyfully in obedience because our hearts are one with His; we want what He wants. After all, it is the heart that drives our actions and intentions. Then will we find ourselves doing God’s Will, for we desire what He wants.

God is all-knowing and loves us the most. And it is only He who knows whats best for us. The Father wants us to join Him in heaven. For this intention alone, is such a great love. So why can’t we always fully trust Him and His plans?

For these, love your God will all your heart, soul and mind. So then you will be able to truly love your neighbour, and join the heavenly kingdom together forever.

If you love your neighbour, it is comparable to Christ loving them since your heart is one with God, and that love came from Him. As Christ shines out from your heart, your neighbour is enlightened as to what true love is. The love Christ offers is SO GREAT that will make our neighbour love in return, granted that we may lift it up back for God’s glory. This is true evangelization. This is US bring people closer to God….to simply love.

Thus, your neighbour will love God with all his heart, soul and mind and s/he will be one with the Lord’s heart and Will. He will learn how to love, and therefore love others. If this love multiplies on earth (as it has been since the 12 disciples), whoever bears it, bears the light of Christ.

For if Christ is in everyone’s heart then, will heaven be here on earth!!

Imagine that!

Therefore my brothers and sisters, don’t be afraid to love God with all your heart, soul and mind. Fully trust in Him alone. Then love your neighbour as yourself.

In uniting our hearts with God’s desires, we find ourselves desiring His Will as well. Since He wants us in heaven with Him, we want the same. He wants us to be holy and pure, and so would we. In uniting our hearts, we desire these for ourselves, making it easier for us to pursuit holiness sincerely. In every vocation, we must always love God first.

With these, Praise the Lord, for He is good!!

This commandment was said with a hierarchical order: To love God first, then our neighbour; and To love with our hearts first, soul, and then mind.

We love God first through prayers since they are an expression of our hearts. It is the accessible gift of communication we have with Him.
Then to love with our soul. Since as our hearts are poured out in our prayers, God sees this, and our hearts will melt in being shown how He loves..similarly as in The ecstasy like St. Terese of Liseux, and many other saints. The love received from the Holy Spirit will lead us into loving God with our soul.
Then would we be able to fully grasp with our minds how to love the Lord with our all, wherein everything we do is an expression of our love for God…which is what God Wills in His Commandment.

So my prayer to you is this:

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully.”

-Colossians 1:9-11 (New International Version)
